Mission

Our mission is to provide students with the best prevention and intervention tools possible to deal with the issues of underage drinking, drunk driving, drug use, and other destructive decisions.

Weekly Meetings

The Dothan High School SADD Chapter meets every week to meet the needs of its members. The meetings are held in the auditorium every Wednesday from 3:15 p.m. until 4:00 p.m.

How To Join SADD

Membership in the Dothan High School SADD Chapter is open to all students in grades 9-12 who attend Dothan High School. Any student interested in joining the Dothan High School SADD Chapter must complete a Contract for Life form. The form must be turned into the advisor before the student can be considered for membership. The student must then attend a meeting for their membership to be active. There is no club fee for the Dothan High School SADD Chapter.

Termination of Membership

Students are only considered active if they attend regular meetings. Students are only allowed to miss 5 meetings per semester. Upon the 6th missed meeting, a student will be removed from the club. Once a student is removed from the club, they will loose all their community service hours earned. Also, any student who engages in substance abuse or attends a party where substance abuse is present, will be placed on probation until the end of the year. A second offense will result in termination of membership.

Earning Community Service

All SADD members have the opportunity to earn community service hours through participation in club sponsored activities and meetings. Members earn hours based on the number of hours worked for a given activity. Students have an opportunity to earn a Presidential Volunteer Service Award if they reach a certain number of hours. The award levels are listed below:

For Students Who Start the School Year as a 14 Year Old:
50 - Bronze
75 - Silver
100 - Gold

For Students Who are 15 or Older:
100 - Bronze
175 - Silver
250 - Gold

Volunteering

All SADD members are encouraged to volunteer throughout the year. To volunteer for any SADD activity a SADD member must be a current Dothan High School student. The member must also have a clean discipline record. Transportation to and from an activity in a must as well. We will be providing transportation for large group volunteer activities, but individual activites will require a student to have their own transportation, (for example if a SADD member volunteers at the Peanut Festival or Angel Tree).

If a student fails to demonstrate hard work and a good positive behavior, they will be sent home from the activity and not allowed to participate in a volunteer activity again for the current school year. If a student fails to show up for an activity that they signed up for, they will be put on probation. Upon second occurance of a failed appearance, that student will be prohibited from volunteering for the rest of the school year. All SADD members will be given the phone numbers to the advisor and all officers. It is your resposiblity to inform the advisor or an officer if you will not be able to make an assigned activity. Never sign up for an activity that you know you will not be able to attend.

Registering For Activities

All SADD members are required to register to participate in an activity. During the 2011-2012 school year students will be able to register online for any activity. Once an activity is placed on the SADD calendar, a member may begin registering for that activity. Once a student registers for the activity they will recieve a confirmation email with their date and time. If an activity is full, students will be informed through email that their request was denied. To register go to the directory page and click on the registration for activities link.

Field Trips

The 2012-2013 SADD Class will have the opportunity to attend the National Convention in Orlando, Florida from June 22nd - 25th, 2013. We will discuss fundraising opportunities and deadlines during weekly meetings.

Students must be an active member of SADD and an active participant in club activities. Students must have accumulated a total of 50 hours of service to be eligible for the field trip.
